Throughout 20+ years of success stories there was one constant that made the largest impact; it wasn’t some technology, project strategy, or “magic-bullet” conservation measure but rather a much simpler concept. It was the people.
The best projects involved working side-by-side with building operators and engineers, gaining understanding, and collaborating to solve unique challenges while simultaneously improving the building for the occupants. The sharing of knowledge and experience sparked innovation, yielded great results, and created lasting relationships.
Combine those moments with the countless teaching and speaking engagements, and it became evident that my expertise is best utilized in helping others meet their goals in service to them as an instructor, coach, or mentor.
To pursue this calling fully and better serve the energy industry, Opt-In Consultants was founded with the sole purpose of providing customized training and support to the industry’s most valuable resource - the building operator. My approach remains focused on achieving goals and optimizing systems but now that will happen as a byproduct of developing the skill-set of the people who manage and operate them.
Every organization’s efficiency and sustainability roadmap should include optimizing the in-house talent because what happens in the boiler room plays a crucial role in the achievement of the goals being pursued in the board room.
