What is the meaning behind the name Opt-In?
If I had a dollar for every time I heard the word optimize over the course of my career... I wouldn’t have had to start this business.
Maybe because it's what we do as engineers; constantly looking for ways to enhance, adjust, or improve systems or processes to make them better. We want everything to be efficient and effective. Its always our goal to take something and get the best out of it.
However, that same principle goes beyond systems and processes and can be applied to people. Deep down, we all yearn to be the best version of ourselves - it’s what drives the self-help industry to make over $10B a year. For anyone looking to be inspired and find ways to improve some aspect of their lives, there is something out there for them. However, it is difficult to find something that offers inspiration and guidance for our professional and personal lives at the same time.
As I began envisioning this new endeavor, it became clear that developing in-house talent through training and mentoring was something needed and where I wanted to devote my efforts. Optimizing systems and processes was always how my projects would start but in the end there was always some aspect of people development that would occur organically. The collaboration of teams always moved everyone further.
My mission is to flip the traditional engineering consulting concept on it's head and focus on Optimizing In-House talent as the main priority. Starting with people first, building efficiency and savings would still be an intended outcome but it would be garnered from the improved awareness and knowledge.
Same result, different approach and one that would align with my pursuit of helping people first.
Our Founder
Meet Saverio Grosso
Saverio began his career commissioning aircraft carriers for the U.S. Navy before moving into an engineering and consulting role within the energy industry.
In the past 20+ years, he has managed onsite commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, balancing and analysis for a wide range of facilities, including healthcare, commercial real estate, mission critical facilities and high-end pharmaceutical laboratories, among others.
He is a results-oriented energy program developer, recognized for published case studies and articles, piloting innovative energy reduction projects for city and state agencies, and the creation and delivery of several accredited education programs. Serving as a board member of the Building Commissioning Association, a full-time Lecturer for SUNY Maritime, and an adjunct professor for the CUNY School of Professional Studies, he is known for developing and teaching efficient operations strategies and nationally accredited courses to local union schools, city agencies and healthcare institutions.
His work as a trusted adviser has allowed him to help define legislation in support of NYC’s energy and carbon emissions goals. It is this dedication to the energy industry that earned him an Urban Green Service Award from the NYC Chapter of the US Green Building Council and the Energy Engineer of the Year Award from the NYC Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers.

Meet Jacqueline Walby-Bocchino
With more than 20 years of experience in the fire suppression and mechanical trades, Jacqueline brings deep industry knowledge and operational expertise to Opt-In Consultants. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with building owners, property managers, project managers, engineers, field teams, and city agencies, developing a comprehensive understanding of building systems, service operations, regulatory compliance, and the day-to-day realities of the skilled trades. Her experience in project coordination, and operations provides the foundation for creating practical, accurate training solutions that resonate with industry professionals.
Today, Jacqueline helps develop engaging training materials and operational content that transform complex technical concepts into clear, real-world learning experiences. Known for her collaborative approach, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement, she is passionate about helping organizations strengthen workforce development through high-quality training that supports safer, smarter, and more efficient operations.
